This is a heavy duty industrial cabinet from about 1960 that was originally manufactured to be used as a metal lathe cabinet. It is welded up from heavy steel plate. The heavy construction and the 1-1/2 inch deep tray top make it an ideal candidate for use as a heavy work bench for disassembling and cleaning a transmission or engine or other large or heavy oil filled or dirty equipment requiring draining and de-greasing, or even for smaller items like lawn mowers or chain saws or gear boxes etc.. It can be set up to catch anything liquid draining from the equipment being worked on and any grunge and goop being scraped off of it keeping it off the shop floor. A bucket or tank can be located under the cabinet top to capture what ever drains through or is scraped into the hole in the top where the lathe drive belts originally passed through the top to the motor drive mounted underneath. I will torch out the belt passage hole to any shape and size you desire. Just add a screen to keep your bolts and nuts and small parts etc from falling through. The raised lip around the top tray is set at an angle to the vertical eliminating the tight right angle corner that is so difficult to clean making for a very easy clean up.

This cabinet could also easily be set up with a solvent tank/bucket and parts washer pump and would then serve as a really big industrial class parts washer that can take heavy loads – no flimsy light duty typical sheet metal parts washer here! The lathe originally mounted on it weighed over 500 lbs and the motor and equipment in the base of the cabinet weighed another 500 lbs raising the total load to 1,000 lbs. An engine or transmission should not be a problem. There are compartments underneath with several heavy latching doors located in the front and end that can be set up for storage of washing equipment and for access to a pump and tank mounted there, and there are provisions for two drawers for storage of brushes and scrapers and anything else required to clean your parts (drawers are missing – you will have to make some – or just put in a shelf board). There is even a cut out in the left front for installing electrical switches that can be used to control a solvent pump and lights as may be required. The cabinet is mounted on four casters and can be rolled around.

Overall dimensions are approximately 53 long, 21 wide at top, 33 high without castors, 38 with.

This is a very simple and straight forward project and you will not have to spend much time or money to complete it. When done you will have something really convenient as a parts washer or just as a fluids capturing work table, and it can also be used as a regular work bench too. I am 76 now (on the way to 80), retired and sold my shop, and not going to be doing this type of work any more - so it is for sale – as is and as shown in the photos. It is located in Upper Arlington. It is heavy, but I can load it for you on your truck or trailer.

Price is $300 cash (ONLY – no checks, E-money, trades, etc) - what cheesy piece of China Crap can you get for that. That is also less than a dollar per pound – so lets not get stupid with low ball offers please!
