Instructions:
Shut down or turn off your Mac.
Connect the bootable installer USB to your Mac.
Turn on your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Option (Alt) key when the Apple logo appears.
Choose Language (if asked)
Then select the "Install macOS" option and follow the on-screen instructions.
For a clean install, follow these additional steps:
Do NOT select "Install macOS" option .
In the macOS Utilities window, choose "Disk Utility" and tap “Continue”.
In the upper left corner tap on “View”, then tap on “Show All devices”
Below the “View” in the “Internal” section, select the top drive, then tap “Erase” in top middle of the screen.
In the popup screen:
Name your drive, anything you want.
Choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" as the format
Scheme can be “GUID Partition Map”
Again tap “Erase”
After erasing, close Disk Utility and return to the macOS Utilities window.
Select "Install macOS" and follow the prompts to complete the installation on the newly formatted drive.
