Electricity is generally around $40 in the winter (gas heat), and goes up in the summer depending on your air conditioning needs (we like it cool, so it's usually around $80). The bedroom comes with an air conditioner we purchased new about a year ago ($150 Target model). The apartment has high ceilings and feels spacious. The bedroom window has a view of the river, while the living room looks out on trees. The apartment is on the 1st floor, but the windows are 1 story up.
Olentangy Village is a great place to live. Maintenance is quick to respond and professional. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Neighbors are quiet and respectful in our building (mostly older students and older people). Before becoming apartments, the land housed an amusement in the early 1900's. A short walk from the back door takes you to the Olentangy River. The bike trail along the river goes over 10 miles in either direction, providing an awesome, year-round commute to OSU. Short North, Italian Village, and Franklinton are short bike rides away, as well as Whetstone Park. If you like beer, Lineage Brewery is short walk from your front door. Coffee, various restaurants, a bike shop, a laundromat, and grocery stores (including an Asian market) are all within walking distance.
Laundry is in an adjoining building in the basement, as is bike storage. There are 3 industrial washers and dryers. Move-in date of August 1st is negotiable, and could be slightly earlier if needed.
