For sale is a John Mayer model Paul Reed Smith Silver Sky SE Stratocaster with rosewood fretboard in piano black. Asking $630.
This is the Indonesian version of the American Silver Sky John Mayer model. As with many of the guitars currently coming out of Indonesia, it's a nice instrument and meets many of the specs of the original. I'm not a huge fan of the stratocaster sound, but I finally wanted one hanging around for recording or just to noodle. I sat down and played nearly every strat in the store from American, Mexican, and Japanese Fenders, and models from other brands as well. In the $600ish price range, this PRS smoked all the others. The only strat sound I really like is the Mark Knopfler Dire Straits sound. It nails that and many other sounds.
It looks as though the piano black version is out of production and stock is running low. It's still $859 new at Guitar Center and Musician's Friend, the same new price it was when I purchased mine. I bought it used at $630, so I'm just looking to recoup my expense (Music Go Round currently has a couple in different colors listed for $600, but after taxes, it's more like $648, so my price is competetive). The only reason I'm parting with it is to pay for a G&L guitar I like more. Comes with PRS SE backpack style soft gig bag. As gig bags go, it's actually pretty nice.
