The Good:
-Powers up to six pairs of stereo headphones with adjustable level control for each
-Each channel has a mono input that can override the main input (if you want to send different mixes to each set of headphones)
-Loud enough that even the drummer or the deaf bass player can hear the mix
-Hard wired power cable (not the weird telephone jack power supply that other Rane HC 6's use and no one ever has when they sell it to you)
-Rack mountable, takes up a single rack space
The Bad:
-All the volume pots crackle. Like, a lot. Like, "take the headphones off before you touch the knob, or you might end up as deaf as the bass player" a lot. It's possible, if you're handy with electronics, that they may just need a spray down with contact cleaner. They also could just be old and shot. I don't know. But the unit works great as long as you don't touch the volume knob while you or someone else is wearing cans. On the plus side, you'll learn your lesson really quick if you do get an earful of crackle.
I bought it this way (the original owner was not kind enough to give me this heads up.) Despite the crackle, I liked this unit's performance enough that I bought another one to replace it, albeit one with the weird telephone jack power supply that I had to go track down separately. This one's a great deal if it's fixable. Still a good deal if you're diligent and cautious against hearing damage.
Local pickup only. No trades please, although part of me is really curious what you have that's worth roughly $50 that you think is fair, but I'm sure I'll be disappointed, which means you will be too. Let's just stick to cash or Venmo, please.
