Headquartered in Winona, Minnesota, RTP Company is a global compounder of custom engineered thermoplastics. The company has over 20 manufacturing plants located in the United States, Mexico, Europe, Singapore and China. RTP Company’s engineers develop customized thermoplastic compounds in over 60 different engineering resin systems for applications requiring color, conductive, elastomeric, flame retardant, high temperature, structural, and wear-resistant properties.
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the set up and operation of thermoplastic extrusion equipment that blends, mixes, packages, and transports dry or liquid materials to produce customer products.
SHIFT AND WAGE INFORMATION
This position works the 2nd Shift Production Schedule: 1:45 PM - 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday. There are occasional opportunities for overtime. The base wage is $24.25 per hour and 2nd Shift employees earn an additional $1.35 per hour. Employees are paid weekly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Set up, start, and operate machinery to mix, extrude, discharge, or handle materials according to standard operating/safety/quality procedures.
* Weigh ingredients to meet customer specifications and feed into machinery, or ensure the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and insert pre-blended materials into machinery.
* Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
* Troubleshoot equipment and processing issues.
* Examine material visually or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
* Transfer material samples to the Quality Lab for evaluation and follow instructions on any batch adjustments if needed.
* Package the finished pelletized materials in customer-provided containers or transfer finished product into bulk storage containers.
* Refer issues/problems to Supervisor for disposition.
* Thoroughly perform all required machine cleaning.
* Complete and maintain all required system inputs/transactions. Responsible for data integrity.
* Document work completed as required in logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
* Participate in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods.
* Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Actively participate in plant safety program. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
* Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Preferred high school diploma or equivalent
* Preferred forklift driving experience
* Preferred manufacturing experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Able to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work processes and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment.
* Must be able to lift 60 lbs. and stand for an 8-hour shift.
* Able to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
* Must be dependable and have excellent attendance.
* Possesses a positive attitude and is willing to learn new things.
* Willing and able to work in temperature extremes -- hot and cold.
* Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
