These are 2, new without the box, 1989, Bombay Company, Private Collection, signed and numbered, blue, Chinese, porcelain plates - "Cranes" and "Deer" - in octagon shaped, wood frames and in excellent condition.
Each of the blue and white plates are limited editions, and are exquisitely detailed prints that have been reproduced from the original design for a Blue and White foliate-rim porcelain plate. The Bombay Company commissioned the design for the plates, made by an Oriental artist who concentrates on designs of the Ming Dynasty Period (1368-1644). These prints depict a graceful center panel scene of Cranes and Deer, surrounded by balanced and rhythmically detailed inner and outer borders.
The Bombay Co. published these prints exclusively for their customers as limited editions. After 10,000 prints are published, the plates will be destroyed. Each have been hand numbered and signed with the red Oriental chop. The round triple mat of dark blue, red, and grey creates a shadowbox effect in an octagonal hardwood frame of silver with a gold rope border accent.
The Blue and White plate - #1 - Deer is signed and numbered 5,113 of 10,000. The Blue and White plate - #2 - Cranes is signed and numbered 4,691 of 10,000.
Each of the plates come with a metal rope for wall hanging, weigh 5 lbs., measure 20 inches round in diameter and are 1.25 inches wide.
