5 Vintage 1960’s Soviet Intourist Travel Posters (North Cols.)

Up for sale is a lot of 5 vintage 1960’s Russian or Soviet travel posters. These were designed to attract American, German and French tourists to the U.S.S.R. and were brought here to the U.S. in the mid 1960’s. All are in overall excellent condition, especially considering its age and history. Below are descriptions for each one:

1) Soviet Spaceman Poster by Intourist: Features the Moscow Kremlin and Soviet spaceman or cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space in 1961, along with the slogan: “Visit the Soviet Union - The Country of the World’s First Spaceman!”. The bottom right text on this poster reads: “Printed in the USSR (Russian: Vnesgorgizdat. Order) No 17562” and the bottom left text reads: “(Russian: ША)”. This poster measures about 38 1/2” high x 23 1/2” wide and typically sells for $1,000-$2,000 online.

2) Science Statue Poster by Intourist: Features a science statue of a man holding a CCCP space rocket ship and an adjacent red star, along with the slogan: “Visit the USSR, A Country of Scientific and Social Progress”. The bottom right text on this poster reads: “(Russian Text: Vnesgorgizdat Ed.) No 17121 Published in the USSR” and the right side reads: “(Russian Text: An.Zrebin - 63)”. This poster measures about 39 1/2” high x 23 1/2” wide and typically sells for $1,000-$2,000 online.

3) Woman in Water Poster by Intourist: Features a woman and fish in the water, along with the slogans: “Spend Your Holidays in Yalta and Sochi, the Finest Soviet Resorts” and “Health Pleasure Fun”. The bottom right text on this poster reads: “(Russian Text: Wneschtorgizdat.) 17502 Published in the USSR”. This poster measures about 37 1/2” high x 23 1/2” wide and typically sells for $1,000-$2,000 online.

4) Moscow Red Square (Roter Platz) Poster by Intourist: Features Moscow’s Red Square (German: Roter Platz), along with the slogan: “Intourist Warmly Welcomes You to Moscow” (German: “Intourist Heisst Sie Herzlich in Moskau Willkommen”). The bottom right text on this poster reads: “(Russian: Vnesgorgizdat. Order) No 17721 Published in the USSR”. This poster measures about 39 1/2” high x 23” wide and typically sells for $350-$400 online.

5) CCCP Arts Festival Poster by K. Tsvakov & O. Maslyakov: Features a woman’s head flanked by a comedy mask and a harp, along with the slogan: “Festival of Arts / Festival Des Arts / Festival Der Künste / (Russian Text: Festival Arts.CCCP)”. The bottom left text on this poster reads: “(Russian Names: K. Tsvakov . O. Maslyakov)”. This poster measures about 39 1/4” high x 23 3/4” wide and typically sells for $350-$400 online.
