This is a nice antique ladderback chair with a rush seat probably from the mid-19th century. The chair is sturdy, but the top back slat is cracked and the rush seat material should probably be replaced. I'm not sure of the type of wood the chair is made of, but it is dark and could be walnut. The finish has aged and could be refinished. This came from a family member's estate. I am not an expert on antique chairs.
