I think maybe I was born in the wrong time. I want the guy from those old black and white movies who was the perfect gentleman. Over the last few years of my life, I�ve come to find out things about myself I never expected to be true. For instance, I never anticipated that I would ever think of my mother as a best friend. I never thought I�d have an interest in nursing as a career. I never thought I�d be bad at being single. But I guess those things make life a little bit more interesting.

Along with finding things out about myself, I�ve discovered things about the opposite sex that I would never consider being important. But here I am, searching for this guy who checks all my boxes. And I know full well that my requests are completely ludicrous and unreachable to many, but I have them all the same.

A friend of mine once told me that honesty is the best thing you to bring to a new relationship- so here it goes. For once, I�m going to start out with all my cards on the table.

1. You have to be tall�I know that it�s an awful and shallow request. It�s like asking someone to not have a belly button. Or to only have 4 fingers on their left hand. It�s not something you choose or can achieve by simply trying. It�s something you�re either born with or not, but alas, I am just not attracted to men who aren�t a good 5 inches taller than I am.

2. You have to like sports but not watch them constantly. I like a man that can�be a man. Drink beer and play halo and watch the OSU game with some chicken wings. But I do NOT want to here about the awesome game last night. Nor do I want to hear it blaring from the TV in the background ever night/weekend.

3. You must keep the romance going. I�m sick of dating a guy for a month and then suddenly a little timer goes off indicating all the romance is dead. I don�t care if it�s stupid- I like getting flowers! I like it when you buy me a cheesy card at the grocery store just because. And I love it when you send me corny texts saying you miss me or can�t wait to see me or was just thinking about me. (is just one of those old clich�s that could not be any more true)

4. Although I want you to text me saying all those corny lines and send me flowers and stupid cards, you can�t smother me! You can�t be one of those guys who just wont shut up- I mean after a while it�s like �I get it, you think my eyes look like an Irish meadow after a soft rain�can we please talk about something else� I totally realize that this is a hard core catch 22, but it is what it is�sorry guys.

5. Looks matter about 5% to me. You could be the hottest guy in the world..hell you could be brad pitt with your shirt unbuttoned holding chocolate in one hand and my favorite vibrator in the other- if you don�t have a good personality, I want nothing to do with you. I mean, there does have to be some sexual attraction�as you can see from my #1 criteria, I do have some standards. But a good personality pretty much trumps every other physical quality for me.

6. Don�t take yourself too seriously�Laugh at yourself, laugh at me! I don�t care! Just don�t walk through life with a frown on your face 99% of the time. It�s too short.

7. Have some sort of career goals�I don�t care if you�re not there yet, but at least have an idea of where you�re headed. It�s taken me way to long to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life, I don�t want to spend another 21 years helping you figure out what you want out of yours.

8. Please be intelligent!!! I may not be the smartest girl in the world, but my bar is set pretty high for guys. It�s really hard for me to come across guys that are intellectually challenging and stimulating. Plus, it maybe so 1956, but I like it when a guy can be a bit smarter than me with some things�not everything, but some things are a definite plus.

9. Another catch 22, be smart, but don�t be a smart ass! Know that every once in a while, you might be wrong. Don�t be too stubborn to come to terms with that. Don�t be too proud to be bested by a girl. Don�t talk down to me, and do NOT belittle me. I can admit when I�m wrong, you better be able to do the same.

10. Just be a gentleman�Don�t try to get in my pants by date #2�Hold the door open for me. Open up the car door when I�m wearing a dress or we�re going some where nice (not all the time, but every once in a while is awesome).

ok here goes... I tried this a couple years ago and ended up meeting my best friend... we just decided that after 18 months we sucked as a couple haha. So I thought it was worth giving it a shot again...
