Fannie and Freddie which own half of the mortgage in the U.S. buy mortgages from the banks for the Obama making a home affordable project this is just a continuation of what they have been doing since the Clinton admin.

Pres Bush and Greenspan tried to get regulation on the Gov Fannie and Freddie loans in 2005. The Dems would have none of it. These both crashed in Sept 2008 and were the cause of our current economic crisis.

Obama of course is keeping these programs alive. They both still need to be bailed out with billions of dollars.

The government should never have been in the mortgage business. This should end now. Let the banks write the loans and take the risk.
