Two angels go to Sodom and Lot invites them to stay at his house. All the men (young and old) in the town want to rape the angels. Lot offers his virgin daughters instead. The angels strike the men blind and escape with Lot and his wife. As fire and brimstone destroy Sodom, the angels say don't look back. Lot's wife looks and turns into a pillar of salt.

Attempted homosexual gang rape is the crime. A literal reading of this passage is not sufficient to say homosexuality is a sin; but a conservative interprets the Bible according to what he wants it to say.

In Ezekiel 16:48-50 God compares Jerusalem to Sodom, saying "Sodom never did what you and your daughters have done." He explains that the sin of Sodom was that "She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me." God then sent an angel to rain hell fire and brimstone down on Sodom and Gomorrah.
