The format of the club is as follows:
- All virtual (group email) and snail mail (to distribute your mixes via CD)
- Every week has a different member assigned so the rest of the club gets something new each week.
- Each mix/CD/compilation can involve a theme of the creator's choosing (or no theme at all)
- Each member is a designated a rotating week approximately every 8 weeks (e.g. 2nd week of every other month) to create a stereo-playable audio CD mix and snail-mail a copy of the mix to all other members.

Requirements for all members:
- Creation of audio format CDs playable in any stereo (not MP3 or data CDs requiring a computer to hear)
- A PC or Mac capable, blank CD-R discs, and a program for burning CD mixes
- Inclusion of at least a numbered artist & track listing, and a plastic case or paper CD sleeve
- Reliable, timely production and mailing of mix on turn (each member is allowed one "mulligan" for holidays & emergencies)
- At least one communication to the group when mixes are mailed, and responsive to club emails requesting feedback

Nice-to-haves:
- An enjoyment of music exploration/challenges
- A penchant for music technology/toys
- An enjoyment of music writing (some past members have include musical essays/ramblings and/or track-by-track comments with their mixes)
- An enjoyment of CD design (faces, covers, liner notes)

I’m a 30-year-old mother of four young children. They range from the ages of 7 – 1. I work full-time and lead a very fast lifestyle between taking kids to swim lessons and t-ball, I often find that I have very little time to focus on myself. Most of the time, my husband and I are so busy trying to keep up with the pace and to keep the children happy and active that we find we have neglected ourselves and one another. It is just the reality of the life we live.

If I were to say on a scale from 1 – 10 how healthy my lifestyle is, I would probably range around a 3 or a 4. We do try to sit down and have a well-balanced meal with the kids every night. We keep them busy with exercise and activity, but often find ourselves too tired to participate ourselves. We have lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but also make time for ice cream and snacks every family movie night. We belong to the local YMCA, but find it often difficult to make the time to go and get active. Though I walk into work everyday a little more than ½ mile, I go home and often sit on the sofa with a book or veg out in front of the TV. So, when I turned 30 years old and took a long look in the mirror, I realized that I have put so much emphasis on my weight being a product of my children rather than acknowledging my own role in it. That’s when I found the ad for boot camp and decided that enough was enough and I was ready to reclaim my body, my self-esteem, and my energy. I really do want to be able to play with my kids. I want to hike and play games, and do all kinds of things that will build lasting memories for them. To do that, I need to get myself in check. I’m doing well with the exercise, and am even doing it on my own at home…now the challenge is to master the food issue. If I can find a way to get control over what I eat, I think I will find a good balance. Right now I let food lead me….I need to be able to decide that I’m not going to have that bowl of ice cream or I don’t need the extra helping. I need to master my own mind now. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and know that I want this bad enough that I will win.

I found Yun Fitness Bootcamp when I was looking for a Kettlebell class. And while all of the exercises in camp have been effective, I found the Kettlebells to be a great exercise for three reasons. First, there is no wasted time dealing with changing plates or pins or cams or anything that usually goes with other strength equipment. Second, even though the Kettlebell routines are short (but intense), I could feel the results faster than I have with any other type of strength training I've tried. Third, and maybe most important, each Kettlebell exercise engages multiple muscle groups building real world strength as you move it...this was brought home to me this weekend when I was doing some construction work. At no time did I do anything requiring me to do a bench press or a bicep curl, but time after time I was lifting concrete blocks and lumber in ways that were very close the Kettlebell moves we do in class and I could tell that the Kettlebells had built whole body strength.

At 18 my husband had mutual sex with a 17 year old in college. They met at a party and the 17 year old portrayed herself as a college student at that time. They got comfortable with each other and had sex. The party got raided and they got caught. The police took in my husband and from there the state picked up his case because the girl did not want to press charges. Because alcohol was involved with their meeting, my husband was convicted of 5 years probation and community service. After his five year term of community service, he was supposed to have been released from his conviction and be done with it. However, when they passed the laws to make all sex offenders register for life, he got grandfathered into it and is now experiencing the unjust and humiliating actions that come with it when people find out that he is a sex offender. I have been married to my husband for 13 years and we have three children, a two year old, a 9 year old and a 14 year old. I can assure you that he is not a threat to children or society. We have lived in a couple of cities and have never had a problem with choosing where we want to live because he is not considered a pedophile or a threat. However, we recently moved to another state and have been told that he can't live or work within 2000 ft of a school, a daycare, or a college. Well, we only moved there because he got a job transfer for a great career opportunity. Unfortunately, his job is near a school and so is the house that we are living in. He is being forced to quit his career and move away from his home. Because of this, it is putting a strain on our family and we may need to move back to Texas because of this. He is currently staying in another place that is not 2000ft from a school and our family is having a hard time with this. I do not see the justice in this and how this is making society a better and safer place. Yes, I do want to know where the high threat sex offenders are for the sake of my own kids and they should be registered for life. But not someone such as my husband who did what so many college students do at that age (have mutual sex) nor has he repeated his offense again. He has proven to be no threat to society. How can they label him in the same category as those who are a threat? In addition to that, the girl was 17 years old, not 7. She knew what she was doing. How can they say that it is against the law for a 17 year old to choose to have consensual sex with an 18 year old, but it is okay for her to make the decision drop out of school.

I’m a 30-year-old mother of four young children. They range from the ages of 7 – 1. I work full-time and lead a very fast lifestyle between taking kids to swim lessons and t-ball, I often find that I have very little time to focus on myself. Most of the time, my husband and I are so busy trying to keep up with the pace and to keep the children happy and active that we find we have neglected ourselves and one another. It is just the reality of the life we live.

If I were to say on a scale from 1 – 10 how healthy my lifestyle is, I would probably range around a 3 or a 4. We do try to sit down and have a well-balanced meal with the kids every night. We keep them busy with exercise and activity, but often find ourselves too tired to participate ourselves. We have lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but also make time for ice cream and snacks every family movie night. We belong to the local YMCA, but find it often difficult to make the time to go and get active. Though I walk into work everyday a little more than ½ mile, I go home and often sit on the sofa with a book or veg out in front of the TV. So, when I turned 30 years old and took a long look in the mirror, I realized that I have put so much emphasis on my weight being a product of my children rather than acknowledging my own role in it. That’s when I found the ad for boot camp and decided that enough was enough and I was ready to reclaim my body, my self-esteem, and my energy. I really do want to be able to play with my kids. I want to hike and play games, and do all kinds of things that will build lasting memories for them. To do that, I need to get myself in check. I’m doing well with the exercise, and am even doing it on my own at home…now the challenge is to master the food issue. If I can find a way to get control over what I eat, I think I will find a good balance. Right now I let food lead me….I need to be able to decide that I’m not going to have that bowl of ice cream or I don’t need the extra helping. I need to master my own mind now. I’m looking forward to the challenge, and know that I want this bad enough that I will win.

I declare defeat! I have officially run out of excuses and can no longer blame anything or anyone for my sad state of health. In the not too distant past I ran marathons, competed in triathlons, played soccer, looked good in a bathing suit, but the last few years have been measured by inactivity, unhealthy diet, indulgent dining, and a bacchanalian relationship with my couch and television. I am well aware of the health dangers and the real burden this continued path could place on my wife and daughter.
It is very easy to get overwhelmed and distracted with a large challenge, but the poem of “How to eat an elephant?” resonated with me. The answer is one bite at a time. Ironically, one bite at a time fueled my current bloated state. Although not vain, I would like to look younger and feel more energetic.

My ultimate goal is to complete an Ironman triathlon in 2010! My first bite is to lose weight, increase my capacity, and develop a plan with specific milestones. All of which take a great deal of personal commitment, but I recognize the need for coaching and peer support. This is the closest to public shaming you can get, but I must publicly hold myself accountable and look forward to the added pressure of being outside my circle of comfort. Surrounding yourself with people that have similar goals, challenges, and motivation are crucial to success.

The Yun Fitness Bootcamps Transformation Contest is the ideal arena for me to be uncomfortable, pushed, and challenged regularly. There is no magical pill or quick fix, but mere determination and commitment. Along with the physical challenge, I know that moderation and openness to new ways of eating and how I eat are also critical facets of this contest. The five of us vary in terms of life experience, age, gender, ethnicity, and education. However, as a group we are laid-back and unpretentious; we simply enjoy reading and discussing good books. You don't need to know anything about literary theory, nor do you have to be well-read to follow the conversation.

We meet on the third Wednesday of each month (evenings - usually around 7pm) to discuss a relatively short classic work (typically near or under 300 pages). We take turns choosing books, and always have the next two books chosen in advance. For instance, we're reading "Death in Venice" for the December meeting, and E.M. Forster's "Where Angels Fear to Tread" (sorry grammar pedants, italics not available) for January. Some of the works we've read in the past include: The Great Gatsby, Franny and Zooey, Frankenstein, 12 Angry Men, The Bluest Eye, and The Road (destined to be a classic one day, ha). We usually meet in north Columbus (Clintonville) or Worthington, but that is subject to change.
