'...I used to be a runway model in Cleveland and took great pride in my appearance. I worked out twice a day, monitored my eating habits and as a result I looked pretty darn good. Well add a few years and a few 9 or 10 pound babies and WOW. It did not help matters that I was completely delusional. I honestly believed that I gained 50lbs in less than a year. Looking back I realized it was the little lies I told myself and then began to accept them as truth. I just had a 10lb baby, it's baby fat, I'm tall I can carry 150 no problem, maybe even 160. When the scale "suddenly" jumped to 180, 190 (which I honestly have no recollection) pushing 200 I started having my doctors test my thyroid, test for diabetes, twice, come on WebMD help me out, anything that could explain away this "sudden" weight gain. I stopped looking in mirrors and became horrified at the thought of anyone taking a picture of me...but wait that is not me...that cannot be me. Then while training for my next half marathon and gup test for Tae Kwon Do the docs said I managed to develop osteoarthritis in my right knee. Everything stopped and came into clear view. I'm sure the extra 50 lbs. pounding on my 40 plus year old knees did not help matters. Not to mention that for some reason I believed I could eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. Reality has a way of slapping you in the face like a 20 lb. kettle bell. I then decided something had to change. I started first with diet because one I believed that was the root of my problems and two I was terrified of my knees failing me completely completely. I took a risk with Yun bootcamps. Hey it was free and free is always good, right? Funny thing is in two weeks this non-morning person found herself craving these crazy 6AM bootcamps. My internal clock reset itself and now I am up (not quite awake) at 5AM prepping for my workout and not quite sure what to do at that odd hour the other 4 days a week. I have now lost a total of 19lbs, still looking for that 145 lb. high school kid that did not know what she had. No matter what my docs say I think these almost 43 year old knees have at least one marathon in them and a few more halfs. I guess only time will tell and with that my knees and I will continue to push forward.'
